This particular blog post is focused on ending your video with a strong CTA, which with VidGrid is done by the same process as our shown in the video below about mid-video CTAs. But the end of the video is arguably the most important.
For more information on executing mid-video CTAs, check out this short video:
Recording your video is only half the battle. The other half is keeping your viewers engaged for the entirety of your video without dropping off.
Here’s a few best tips and tricks for keeping your viewers engaged for your whole video.
First of all, put in some pop-up comments such as this one here. Say things like, Happy Monday, here’s a stat from our latest case study, or, here’s a link to my website. This will keep your viewers engaged and keep them watching the entire video without the video stopping.
Now, sometimes we want our viewers’ undivided attention. This is where in-video questions come into play. You can put any type of question you want right within the video. This can be a simple question, a lead form, a call to action. You can even have them book a meeting on your calendar within the video. Or simply say, hey, record a reply for me. These can all be added from your VidGrid question library right within the player.
When your viewer starts watching your videos and interacting with them, you’re gonna get real-time notifications right within our app and within your email. And then you can respond right back to your viewers.
A couple best practices to follow is to always have at least one comment and one question in every single video so you’re always getting consistent feedback, and you can measure the engagement and interactions of your video.
All right, now it’s your turn. Go add some questions, some comments to get your viewers engaged with your video.
Why you should use a CTA at the end of every video:
For starters, this is the one time in your video that you should make your CTA a requirement. You can do this sparingly in the middle of videos, but you risk a viewer clicking away by making a call to action mandatory in order to continue watching a video. If they haven’t fully bought in to whatever it is you’re selling—literally or figuratively—this makes for a convenient video off-ramp, which you obviously don’t want.
However, a viewer will be leaving the video when it ends regardless of whether they take an action, so this is the time to engage and request an action. By putting the CTA directly in your video, you’re giving yourself an advantage versus a standard video.
According to a recent KISSmetrics study, adding a CTA within a video generates 380% more clicks than a CTA on the sidebar of the same page.
Forbes Insight adds that roughly 65% of video viewers click through to visit the vendor website. So take this opportunity to make a specific request—don’t waste such a strong lead with a generic CTA, like “visit our website for more details.”

Your CTA checklist
When it comes to CTAs, here’s everything to remember as you start creating videos:
- Always have a call to action. Whether or not you use interactive elements in your video, the video itself should have a specific intent in mind pertaining to the user. What do you want the viewer to learn from the video? What do you want them to do next?
- Make CTAs within your video player. Simply click the menu in the upper right to incorporate a CTA right in you video.
- Don’t make CTAs required—unless it’s at the end of your video. Your videos will achieve a higher rate of completion if users can skip mid-video CTAs.
- Use emojis! Nearly all emojis will work with the VidGrid player. You can copy and paste Google emoji codes in the question or answer options.
- Save your frequently used CTAs. You can save CTAs in your personal CTA library to easily add them to new videos without recreating them.
